Welcome to The Women's Fund
of Essex County
In 2003 eight energetic and passionate women created The Women’s Fund, a philanthropic vehicle to raise funds that support women and girls in need. Grants are directed toward programs which enhance the health, safety and educational well-being of Essex County women and girls. Since its founding, the Women’s Fund has raised over $450,000 thanks to the generosity of women all across Essex County and corporate donations.
OCTOBER LUNCHEON WILL FEATURE
LIZ WALKER AS KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Liz Walker is an award winning television journalist, a documentary film producer and an ordained minister.
After anchoring WBZ Television’s evening newscast for almost 20 years, Ms. Walker is currently the Host, Executive Producer and chief writer of Sunday with Liz Walker, a weekly television program on WBZ TV in Boston.
In 2001 Walker made the first of many trips to Sudan, the scene of the twenty first century’s first genocide. Outraged by what she saw, she co-founded MY SISTER’S KEEPER, a humanitarian group that advocates for women and children who are trying to rebuild their country and their lives in Sudan. She has since produced A GLORY FROM THE GOD; a documentary film that profiles what has been called the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.
A 2005 graduate of Harvard Divinity School, Ms. Walker is a youth minister at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. She spends much of her personal time speaking to young people about passion, purpose and community involvement.
