According to the US Census Bureau, information from the American Community Survey is used to determine how more than $400 billion in federal and state funds are distributed each year.

NOTES:

• Numbers have been rounded to whole numbers.
• Percentages may not all add to 100% as a result of rounding or margin of error for the data.
• Because percentages are rounded to whole numbers, percentages and their absolute numbers may differ slightly.
• Poverty rates are based on “population for whom poverty status is determined” which is estimated at approximately 98% of Essex County population.  Poverty results have been extended to 100% of the population.
